Not London
Just as fast as the tide washes away the footprints in the sand, our initial plans of flying to London for a long weekend faded away rather quickly. In hindsight, I wonder if we were ever serious about it but perhaps that is for another day to figure out...
It was supposed to be a short getaway to a close-by destination to escape rainy and cold Denmark for a few days. Meet some friends, go to the theatre. We agreed that this is all we need, it will be great. We barely know each other, this is a safe and an optimal plan.
Maybe the idea was inherently flawed, London wouldn't have been a big change to Copenhagen. Maybe we were just testing how far we can push each other. Maybe we were just bold. Maybe there is no maybe. It took us a late-night Saturday to change our minds and agree to fly across the ocean to another continent instead. I was half-joking. Were we both?
One month later we were on a plane flying to paradise. 2,5 months into knowing each other. Have you ever traveled to the other side of the world with someone you barely knew? Would you ever do that?
I'm going to have to blame that 'one beer' for this unexpected turn of events. Let's be honest, I'm also going to thank that 'one beer' for the same.
